Trayvon Martin’s Parents And Mike Brown’s Father Prayed Together At A Flo-Rida Gospel Concert

The parents of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown’s father met and prayed together during The Gospel Explosion concert and vigil that was held Friday (November 28) in Miami Gardens, Florida and hosted by Flo-Rida.

The AP reports that Trayvon Martin’s father, Tracy Martin, spoke with Michael Brown Sr. about his loss. “God has his hands on the situation and he’s gonna be OK,” Martin later told CBS. This wasn’t the first time the families had met—they first met at Brown’s funeral.

Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, emphasized the importance of speaking to Brown’s parents.

“There’s really nothing you can say,” Fulton explained to CBS after meeting with Michael Brown Sr. at the vigil. “Time is going to heal the wound. But I think what we can do is just encourage them and tell them that they’ll be able to make it because it is very difficult.”

The deaths of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown made national headlines because both black teens were unarmed when they were shot and killed.

Last year, George Zimmerman, the man who shot Trayvon Martin, was found not guilty of charges connected to the death of the 17-year-old Martin.

This month, a grand jury decided not to indict Darren Wilson, the officer who shot and killed Michael Brown, who was 18-years-old. In both cases, protests, rallies and debates about racism ensued.
